Has anyone experienced lately an increase in the number of buyers who make purchases then refuse to correspond and more importantly pay?I have a small number of items at auction and do a steady business of 10-12 sales per month.I must note that since I came on to Delcampe I have experienced a greater number of deadbeat bidders than I have met up with on the other three sites I use but overr the last 6 weeks I had bids on 16 lots and to date several weeks after their closings I have no payment on 12 of them. Some of these bidders are new but most have some historySome have bid on a single item some on multiples. Is anyone else sharing my experiece or am I just having a spade of bad luck.I would appreciate hearing back from members!

hi nanook,
don't feel alone. i have been stuck to the tune of many hundreds of dollars here by deadbeat buyers. and sometimes somethin' was done, but many times, nothing was not. it really depended on how much the person was spending on delcampe when you came right down to it. if it was a large sum, no punishment. a small sum, a closed account if 3 strikes occurred. what else can i say. all you can do is get your commission fees back when they don't pay you and give negative feedback.

Hello Canjunsr: You are bang on about who gets reprimanded on Delcampe. Two of these bidders who stiffed me one has positve feedback of 3500+ but nearly 600 negatives and the other 4500+ and 550 negatives and both of them have left up to 40-50 unpaid items on the table with one seller but obviously on the old corporate bottom line these guys are an asset...............say no more!!!!!!!!!!
I used to really anticipate the arrival of a bid on my material on this site but over the last two months I cringe at the arrival of a bid being left with the thought of what problem will this one cause.
I have tried to formulate what the hell is going on here.I believe there is a definite disrepect for the auction process and obligations that are on going on this site.Sebastian seems to be a very fine fellow who genuinely and obviously care for his product and the people using it but it is my opinion and mine alone that far too many individuals on this site see this benevolent CEO as a soft touch who would rather forgive, look the other way etc rather than bringing down the hammer.I can only speak for my self when I say that participating in the selling aspect of this site has become an very unpleasant experience.
So back to claiming my final evaluation fees, relisting my goods and dropping my negatives... Take care!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We use a multi step program with nonpaying bidders.
A) Send invoice.
B) 7 days second invoice.
C) 14 Days Personal note via email.
D) 21 days start dispute process
E) 24-28 Days Ask for refund from Delcampe, Leave feedback, Block bidder from bidding again.
F) Share bad bidder Id with friends so they can add him to their lists.
The last works really well. When one of those 4000+ 500- feedback buyers sees themselves being blocked by 8-12 buyers all at once, it get their attention.
Question/comment?
I would like to see a feature on Delcampe were one could set a min standard on buyers according to %+ feedback or number of feedbacks.
I would then block any one from bidding on my items with less than 95% feedback or more than 10 negative/neutral in last three months.
Comparison with Ebay.
My non paying bidder rate is about the same on Delcampe as ebay. Just .001% lower. We do 500+ sales a month on both sites.

Hello Scview,
I always read your constructive post here & elsewhere : Thank for taking time to give us your tips & tricks.
I just wondering how are you keeping track of your 2nd invoice sent, reminder sent,... for your large number of delcampe transaction ?
I personally would love to see Seb & his team add an automatic after sale process like on eBay. where you can see all the "invoice sent, reminder sent, shipping notification....".

Hi Corrine,
Sorry about the late response to your question. I only log onto forums from time to time.
I track all my second invoice by hand. I put the second invoice items in a seperate box.
I write transaction tracking notes on the slip of paper with the item number that I slip into the sleeve of the postcard/item in question .
i use the following notes:
2nd invoce & date;
e-mail & date ;
Dispute started & date
If all that doesn't work I then leave Neg Feedback, block the bidder, post the bidder ID to other dealers and relist the item.

The process has GREATLY reduced non payments.
hi SCV,
i have a simpler way. i just have a message on my site:
"ATTENTION PLEASE, PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTIONS AND THIS: DUE TO THE HIGH PERCENTAGE OF NON PAYING BIDDERS, IF YOU INTEND TO BID, PLEASE INTEND TO PAY FOR YOUR AUCTION, OTHERWISE DON'T BID. THE CHOICES OF PAYMENTS I OFFER ARE THE ONLY ONES I CAN ACCEPT. THANK YOU. DUE TO THE RECENT PROBLEMS WITH THE LOSS OR DEGRADATION OF THE IMAGES ON DELCAMPE, ADDITIONAL IMAGES OF ANY OF MY AUCTIONS CAN BE PROVIDED, JUST CONTACT ME THROUGH DELCAMPE.COM. THANK YOU./MERCI."

Hello Bill,
How are you doing ?
Here, in Michigan, We're having the 1st snow
I guess that it's going to help me reach the 10000 listing goal I have
I'm surprised to learn that a short text like yours prevent non-paying bidders to shop your store
I just have to get more organized with my after-sale process. Until now, I just wait to receive a payment (sometime weeks) to get the sold items ready. Stefano's technique makes sense to me.
Tomorrow we're having St Nicolas -yes, I kept this Tradition-: The kids already have cleaned their boots (Because they are bigger, and more stuff fit in)... But I still have to go shopping.

bonjour little sister,
a bon tradition , you get twice the pleasure at twice the cost. what the children get bigger boots for dec. 25.
we have had another cool front but it is a pleasant one, no snow. i visit my sister this weekend for a xmas party with the family. perhaps we will see a bear or foxes in the florida woods. it is always fun to go there. my message is quite blunt but then i was tired of the many non-payers. but i still get them from time to time. and i must bite the bullet. un bon fete et joyeaux noel au vous. et familie.
